Terms of Use

1. The circle
Shining Oak Distillery (“the Site”) is a private collaborative reading platform for an unpublished manuscript. Access is by invitation only. By creating an account you confirm you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
2. Confidential manuscript
All manuscript text, revisions, notes, and related materials shared on the Site are confidential and remain the author’s exclusive property. You may not copy, screenshot for distribution, share, publish, or otherwise disclose any manuscript content outside the Site without the author’s prior written permission.
3. Feedback
Annotations, comments, suggestions, and discussion posts you submit may be used by the author to revise the work. You grant the author a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use your feedback for that purpose. You retain ownership of your original wording where applicable.
4. Conduct & adult content
The book is intended for adult readers (18+). Treat other readers and the author with respect. Do not post illegal content, harassment, or spam. The author may lock discussions, remove posts, revoke invitations, or suspend accounts.
5. Accounts
Keep your login link and session private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Magic-link email delivery depends on your inbox provider and our authentication service (Supabase).
6. Availability & liability
The Site is provided “as is” for a private creative project. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability for use of the Site is limited to direct damages not exceeding amounts you paid us (if any) in the prior twelve months.
7. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after a new terms version is posted (and accepted when prompted) constitutes acceptance of the update.
